A small-scale mahogany triple-tier étagère with serpentine-shaped shelves on turned legs. The top shelf is bordered by a raised three-quarter gallery. Elegant and practical storage and display shelving. [1. "A very useful piece of furniture for the cottage parlor, is one made in a great variety of this type being one of the simplest. It is called a what-not by the English, and an étagère by the French. It usually stands in the corner of the room, and is employed as a stand for little articles, curiosities, books, or whatever trifles of useful or ornamental character may accumulate, with no other special place devoted to them."
